I Played Marvel Rivals

I got to play Marvel Rivals Beta and I am here to share with you my experience so far and what I hope to see on release. So I played somewhere between 8-10 hours of the beta. Marvel Rivals is a 6V6 shooter where you strategically work with your team to either protect the payload on its way to its destination or stop it from reaching its goal. There are three class types, Vanguard, Duelist, and Strategist. In other terms, Tank, Healer, and Assault. The list of characters available in the beta were…

  • Star Lord
  • Hela
  • Thor
  • Namor
  • Loki
  • Magik
  • Groot
  • Rocket Raccoon
  • Luna Snow
  • Black Panther
  • Iron Man
  • Hulk
  • Spider Man
  • Jeff
  • Doctor Strange
  • Magneto
  • Mantis
  • Peni Parker
  • Venom
  • Adam Warlock

I played as most if not all of the characters in the beta. For the majority of the beta’s time, a small amount of characters were so overpowered, that the majority of characters were unplayable. On the beta’s last day, they pushed an update that did some major balancing and in my opinion made it way better.

The biggest thing that stands out to me about Marvel Rivals is the love and care that goes in to its characters. The characters interact with each other and commentate throughout the game. Getting great voice actors is also going the extra mile that wasn’t needed, but pushes the game to the next level.

The same love and care also shines through with the vast abilities that are tailored specifically to each character. Flying as Star-Lord, turning in to the Hulk, wall crawling as spiderman, and building up walls with roots and Groot.

Now if you did not like games like overwatch, I am sorry to say, you more than likely won’t like this game either. This game relies on you being a team player. If nobody is playing as a healer and you don’t step in to fill that role…don’t be surprise if your team takes an L.

Now on the bright side, there is a good selection so far from each class. Each character providing a unique play style. Finding what works the most for you has been my favorite part of the game so far.

The battle pass offered so far seems to be pretty rewarding, every 10 levels you get a new skin for a character. It shows you what you will get, so there is no guessing. It also offers free skins that are obtainable with coins you get from challenges, and battle pass leveling. The game features character specific challenges, daily challenges, weekly, and repeatable ones in case you run out.

As far as what I would like to see for this game in the future, is further improvement on balancing the characters. This comes with time and player feedback. I do not think that players should judge this game harshly until we have given the Developers time to react to that feedback.

I think the ecosystem is perfect for what it is. If they stick to the leveling system they have in the beta, I don’t think it will be too grindy. I just hope they keep it that way to stay competitive with other free to play games.

If you wanna check out what the game is like, you can watch me play on our Youtube channel at the link below! I apologize ahead of time for the bad audio quality. It was my first time recording with my capture card and my microphone audio was way different than the game’s.
