Alone In The Dark Developer Shuttered After Failing To Meet Expectations

More sad gaming news as Alone In The Dark developer Pieces Interactive announced on their website that they have been shut down by Embracer Group.

While no official reasoning has been given and Embracer Group has yet to comment, Embracer did announce earlier this year that the game failed to meet expectations when discussing their latest financials. The game didn’t do well amongst critics either.

For what it’s worth our reviewer enjoyed the game giving it an 8 out of 10 saying:

“Like a lot of horror stories from the 1920’s there is a lot of ‘I have no idea where this is going or what is happening’ but I need to keep going to find out. Despite my audio glitch, I had an amazing time with Alone in the Dark, the minute I finished it with Edward I loaded straight back in to see what differences Emily’s story had.

I would highly recommend any horror fan to play Alone in the Dark, you will not be disappointed.”

Unfortunately this is becoming all too common within the gaming industry and especially Embracer Group after they went on a mass studio purchasing spree before acquiring the money to do so. Once the deal with Saudi Arabia backed funds fell through Embracer Group has been forced to sell off or close many of those purchases.

We hope the team at Pieces Interactive can land on their feet quickly.
