A lot of the focus and cheering from the aftermath has come from Xbox fans, as it should. We've talked about how good the show was already, but how should the show make PlayStation fans? The answer should be happy, and not just for the obvious reason.
Games Coming To PlayStation!
This one should be the main obvious reason. These showcases always have plenty of games coming to all the systems, and the Xbox Showcase was no different. First glimpses of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, the new Life Is Strange and many others will be coming to PlayStation as well, not to mention Xbox first party games like Doom and Call Of Duty (and maybe more?) will be launching on PlayStation as well.

That's one thing I'll never really understand from the die hards who refuse to watch these shows or hate on them. I'm not a PlayStation gamer but I still watch every PlayStation showcase and State Of Play because I both enjoy seeing new games and celebrate them regardless of platform and chances are a few of the games shown will likely come to my platform of choice.
From this standpoint alone PlayStation fans should already like the showcase, who doesn't want new, great games?
Will PlayStation Step Up?
Here's where I think PlayStation fans should really be happy when it comes to what Xbox just did. By putting on a fantastic show if has shifted a bit of the pressure over to PlayStation.
Now let me be clear before I elaborate because I can already see people twisting this now. No I'm not suggesting PlayStation is worried or in trouble or anything like that. PlayStation is killing it this generation as they did last generation.
However the one thing PlayStation has been of late is a little comfortable. With little competition from Xbox, fans have noticed the lack of showcases, with even the most hardcore PlayStation fans vocally asking what's going on with the first party roadmap being a little barren for the last little while. Thankfully for PlayStation fans they haven't been short on amazing games as PlayStation has done a fantastic job filling those gaps with third party exclusives.

And to be completely fair to PlayStation some of this should have been expected. The PlayStation first party machine was pumping out bangers from basically every studio they had the last 3 years. With the time it takes to develop a game these days being 5 years(unless you are Insomniac) this lull was inevitable. Thankfully studios like Bend and Sucker Punch should be close to announcing something you would think.
Competition Breeds Greatness
With Xbox showing signs of life and building that excitement around their brand a bit once more, PlayStation will likely want to do the same and show the world that they are the market leaders for a reason.

They likely have a PlayStation 5 Pro of some sorts coming and will want a game or 2 to show it off, but with the Xbox show being so good they might go even bigger. PlayStation has said they don't like showing stuff that's years away. Quite frankly they haven't needed to. I'm still not sure they need to, but they may want to just to show they are still the top dog.
What PlayStation has cooking is a bit of a mystery at the moment, but for PlayStation fans maybe now will be the time to get a glimpse.
