Earlier today PlayStation revealed their quarterly and year end fiscal reports which revealed many positives for the company, including the fact that the recently released Helldivers 2 sales (you can read our review here) have reached a record 12 million units in 12 weeks.
Considering the stable of IPs PlayStation has published over the years this is a massive milestone for both the company and developer Arrowhead Studio. The previous record was owned by God Of War Ragnarok which had sold 11 million copies in 75 days.
While Ragnarok was released on both PlayStation 4 and 5, Helldivers 2 was only released on the PlayStation 5. However on top of the PlayStation 5 Helldivers was the first PlayStation game to launch day 1 on PC where a significant portion of it's player base came from.

As PlayStation continues to put more and more games onto PC it will be interesting to see if these sales figures make them consider more day 1 releases or not.
It should also be noted that Helldivers 2 was priced at $39.99 (in the US anyway) so while it outsold all PlayStation games it likely didn't beat out revenue of games like Ragnarok which was a $70 game.
Arrowhead CEO Johan Pilestedt commented on the announcement via Twitter/X thanking the community for their support and pointing out that "It’s crazy to think that there are more Helldivers than there are Swedes."

With Helldivers 2 being a live service game it doesn't appear that it will slow down anytime soon with many updates incoming.
Congrats to both PlayStation and Arrowhead on the impressive Helldivers 2 sales milestone.
