Jim Ryan officially retires as of Monday April 1st. As he rides off into the sunset of his 30 year career (congrats on retirement Jim) he decided to drop one last nugget of information.
On the Official PlayStation podcast that released today Ryan talked about a variety of topics, including what he thought of the 2000s which is when he mentions the milestone.
"The 2000s? That would be, I'd say, 160 million, which is the number of PS2's we sold. A high watermark"

A high watermark indeed. So high, that it is the best selling console of all time ahead of the Nintendo DS (154 million) and the Nintendo Switch (139 million).
The last time we ever received an official sales update on the PlayStation 2 was when Sony announced 150 million in 2011, though sales analysts had it higher years later.
Congrats to Sony hitting such a milestone. Do you think that the PlayStation 2 record will ever be toppled? Let us know below.
