It looks like gamers who were looking forward to Yacht Club Games’ upcoming Zelda-inspired adventure, Mina the Hollower, will have to wait a bit longer, as the developer/publisher announced that the game would not be releasing on October 31st.
On Monday, October 6th, the announcement was published on the official Yacht Club Games website, and while the team apologised for the delay, they were also quick to clarify that it was not a “major delay”, despite not giving a new release date.

“This week, our team made a tough decision: we decided to delay Mina the Hollower. The entire crew has been working tirelessly day and night to finish development for release on Oct 31st, but we’re just not quite there yet. This isn’t a major delay, it’s just a stretch of time to apply some final polish and balancing to make the game truly shine.
With that said, we would like to apologize! Nevertheless, we will not waver on our commitment to quality. Our goal is to make sure our development team has the time and resources to deliver an incredible adventure and we will be giving you just that. That’s no hollow promise!”
Originally slated for a December 2023 release after one of the most successful video game kickstarters of 2022, Mina the Hollower’s release date was finally announced to be October 31st in August of this year.
Mina the Hollower is Yacht Club Games’ first new IP since Shovel Knight broke ground back in 2014, and looks to recapture the nostalgic excitement of the Game Boy Advance era, complete with authentic 8-bit visuals and a soundtrack by chiptune virtuoso, Jake Kaufman. Inspired by the top-down Zelda games, you play as a little mouse called Mina on a mission to save a cursed island. Use her trusty whip, Nightstar, as well as a range of other weapons and trinkets to find your play style as you fight monsters, burrow underground, and explore a Gothic world full of secrets.
The team at Yacht Club Games has stated that this delay is to give them more time to polish the game and allow for more testing, stating that a new release date will be announced once Mina the Hollower has been submitted to all platforms it is releasing on.
We here at the GSC will keep our whiskers crossed that we hear something soon, so be sure to check back as we hopefully get more information about Mina the Hollower’s release date soon.
